COVID-19 Education Operations Plan for IV Therapy
Students certified as an EMT in the State of Colorado are permitted to perform limited intravenous therapy under medical direction following successful completion of the course. The class includes 32 hours of classroom and lab training followed by in-hospital clinical experience. There will be no clinical time offered until further notice. All required IV sticks will be completed in a simulation lab setting.
Prerequisite: Colorado State EMT Basic Certification. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR COLORADO STATE EMT BASIC CERT PRIOR TO REGISTERING FOR CLASS.
We apologize but we cannot accommodate CNAs/RNs/LPNs/PAs with our IV Approval Course. This course is for the certification of the EMT Basic ONLY in IV Therapy.
Once you have completed your application you will receive an email from My Clinical Exchange, which is Denver Health’s vaccination and certification management software. Under normal circumstances you would be required to enter vaccinations prior to acceptance into the course.
During our COVID-19 Educational Plan you will only be required to enter a photo for your ID (for lab sessions), a background check (which can be your Colorado certification since you had to obtain a background check in order to become certified) and a copy of your COLORADO STATE certification.
NREMT WILL NOT SUFFICE!
During this time, the didactic portion of the class will be held online via the Zoom platform. On one of the final days you will be brought into the classroom for skills sessions. All students MUST be symptom free, wear face coverings and gloves (which we will provide if you do not have) answer a brief survey and have their temperature taken. Once all the requirements are complete you will be issued a Course Completion certificate and you will then be eligible to initiate IV Therapy based on your organization and medical director’s protocols.
32 hours of continuing education hours will be provided after successful completion of the course.
Tuition: $400.00(includes textbook and clinical time).A non refundable $75 deposit is due at time of application.
